Food tour through South Africa

I’m very excited for my blogger friend Mel Kettle. She’s a great cook, great company and if we didn’t already have major overseas travel plans in 2016 already (yeeeees – will share these with you soon), I’d jump at the chance to go on this.  Check out her new Gourmet Food Tour through South Africa:

Inaugural Gourmet Trails Signature Safari: South Africa, May 2016

Encompass Africa and well known food and travel blogger, Mel Kettle (www.cooks-notebook.com.au) have partnered to create the ultimate series of food safari tours in Africa: Gourmet Trails.

The inaugural Gourmet Trails Signature Safari heads to South Africa in May 2016 for a 14 day/13 night tour exploring fabulous food locations and hidden gems in and around Cape Town and the Garden Route, culminating with three days in a safari lodge on the Eastern Cape.

“I’m incredibly excited to be partnering with Encompass Africa to present our inaugural Gourmet Trail: South Africa,” said Mel Kettle.

“We will be exploring many of the gastronomic delights of cosmopolitan Cape Town, the magical mountainous Winelands and the stunning sights of the Garden Route. Our last three nights will be at an exclusive use safari homestead on the Kariega Private Game Reserve.

“Highlights of the trip include a visit to a sustainable, organic micro farming initiative that was set up to support local communities in a township of Cape Town, cooking classes on working farms, a ten course seafood degustation on a remote West Coast beach and winery visits including one that dates back to the 1600s.”

Accommodation includes luxury apartments in Cape Town, an owner run B&B in the Winelands, a working farm on Route 62, a boutique hotel with an emphasis on food in Knysna on the Garden Route and an exclusive use safari homestead.

The inaugural Gourmet Trails Signature Safari: South Africa departs Cape Town on 12 May 2016 and ends in Port Elizabeth 25 May 2016. Costs from $6,395, includes VIP meet and greet, Gourmet Gift Bag, 13 nights accommodation (shared – single supplement available), private road transfers with driver, breakfast daily, 8 lunches, 10 dinners, tastings and tours as outlined in itinerary, Mel Kettle accompanying.
