Monaco the motorsports capital

Monaco sets the pace for motorsport fans with a calendar of races that blend history, innovation, and the thrill of competition against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean.

I have been to Monaco three or four times, and once to the F1 Grand Prix and I can say, it was a fantastic experience. It’s easy to get to Monaco from Nice, just an hour by train, and there’s a range of accommodation to suit all budgets in Nice.

Just like how every Formula 1 driver wants to win Monaco, it’s a race every Formula 1 fan should try to get to at least once.

Mark your 2026 calendars for these exciting events:

Rally Season

22–25 January: Monaco kicks off 2026 with two thrilling rallies. The WRC Rally Monte-Carlo launches the World Rally Championship across 17 challenging Alpine stages, finishing in the Principality.

29 January – 7 February: Immediately after WRC, the Historic Monte-Carlo Rally  celebrates classic cars from 1911–1986, featuring regularity stages on closed roads for vintage rally enthusiasts.

Triple Grand Prix Season

24–26 April: Monaco Historic Grand Prix. The 15th edition of this heritage motorsport festival takes historic racing to new heights. For the first time, Formula 1 turbo cars from 1981–1985 will roar through Monte-Carlo’s iconic streets, delivering a sensory blast of raw power and adrenaline. Combining nostalgia with fresh milestones, the event cements Monaco as the world’s premier historic racing destination. Tickets are now on sale.

16-17 May: Monaco E-Prix. Part of an expanded 18-race Formula E season, Monaco’s double-header weekend doubles the high-speed excitement for fans for the 10th and 11th edition. Witness cutting-edge electric racing machines manoeuvring the legendary Grand Prix circuit, showcasing innovation, sustainability, and the electrifying future of motorsport.

4–7 June: Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The crown jewel of the F1 calendar moves to the first full weekend of June in 2026, aligning with the FIA’s regional scheduling strategy. A renewed contract through 2031 confirms Monaco’s enduring status as the pinnacle of motorsport. Fans will also see the debut of new technical regulations, with smaller, lighter cars featuring advanced hybrid engines and active aerodynamics, promising sharper strategy, faster laps, and unforgettable race drama. Tickets are now on sale.
