The most affordable lunch at a Margaret River winery

How’s a casual $20 winery lunch sound, including a glass of rosé? Providore Margaret River has rolled out a new great value lunch offering, the first in a planned series of creative food and wine pairings to enjoy on their relaxed furnished terrace.

Rosé and Roll combines a glass of award-winning Coward & Black Lady Margo Rosé and a choice of a WA classic conti roll or a free-range chicken and salad baguette for just $20.

Conti roll and glass of rosé at Providore

I was excited at the invitation to be one of the first to try it. Conti rolls vary depending on where you go, and Providore’s version comes with ham, salami, mortadella, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, salad greens and a delicious picked relish encased in a long crusty bread roll.

Importantly, the conti rolls are tasty, they really hit the spot and the rosé was dry and quaffable. The rolls are pre made that day and come in a bio pack. I was totally full after my roll and so was Zorba.

Order, pay and collect at the counter and take your lunch and glass of wine, which doesn’t have to be rosé if you prefer a chardy or another varietal, and sit where you like – my tip is to head out to the terrace. Bookings are not necessary.

I love Margaret River and I love winery lunches, but sometimes, a winery lunch can feel like open-wallet surgery. In fact, there are very few wineries in the South West where you can have a quick casual lunch. The wineries with restaurants mostly offer a la carte or set menu, which are wonderful on those occasions. Some wineries offer no food at all. There’s a winery on the property too and the terrace looks over rows of Chardonnay vines merely metres aways. It’s a lovely spot, to sit in the shade, surrounded by potted greenery. Our planned quick lunch ended up being a couple of hours longs as we lingered and enjoyed the relaxed space and more than one glass of wine.
